"But Animal Righters love pets!"
If you look at any of the top animal righters in the country, you will see that they either have no pets at all, or veganized, blind cats. They know veganizing some animals just doesn’t work, and they know veganism can’t be achived without, well, getting rid of the other animal consumers, pets. And before you bring up rabbits, well, they were bred, and breeding is seen as something unethical to their cause.
"The animal rights movement in America, led by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), has evolved into a wealthy and successful attack group determined to end the consumption of meat, eliminate hunting, outlaw rodeos and circuses, and even ban animal ownership (including pets) altogether."
Why?
Because even our domestic animals are linked to the use and consumption of animal products that the AR are against. Ferrets and cats need meat, and meat can’t be abolished if you can own these animals. Veganizing them isn’t an option for ferrets and cats and dogs. Most of our herbivore animals some would assume would be safe are targeted too, as they are bred (and according to some rabbit breeders I knew, you feed the mothers some bacon so they won’t eat their babies). You can’t abolish animal use 100% if you can breed and keep animals, again, it “is against their rights”.
Animal Welfare is the way to go. It grants the animal a life from suffering, a humane death and a great use to us and our pets :) A world without being able to interact with and use animals is a dull world.
